trucks are dropping 80000 lbs of pet food this week

This week, Mimi Ausland’s Freekibble charity is sponsoring a “Koast-to-Koast Kibble Drop” during which 80,000 lbs. of Halo Purely for Pets pet food will be distributed to shelters and rescues across the country.

Two semi-trucks, each carrying 20 tons of food, took off from Lebanon, TN last week. One headed east and the other headed west. They are dropping off kibble at designated drops as they make their way to the coasts.

Shelters of all sizes will benefit from the drop — from small local rescues to the ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Once the last morsel of kibble is dropped this Thursday, over 40 shelters, rescues and food banks will have received a total of 400,000 meals for homeless cats and dogs for the holidays.

Follow the FreeKibble Trucks across the Country!

You can follow the progress of the trucks on the Kibble Drop page. Both routes going east and west are shown on the map and it’s updated as deliveries are made – you can click on any of the drop sites to see who’s getting the food, and when it’s delivered.

mimi ausland, founder of freekibble.com“I am so excited that we’re delivering two full truckloads of kibble to thousands of homeless dogs and cats this holiday season. It’s extra special because it’s not just any kibble, but it’s healthy, nutritious and delicious! I know it will make their holidays a bit warmer and more special,” said 15-year-old founder Mimi Ausland.

Since 2008, Freekibble.com has donated more than 6.6 million meals to hungry shelter and rescue pets. Each day, Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com feature a trivia question. Visitors to the sites can answer the questions and earn 10 pieces of kibble for homeless pets just for playing.
