Obama the Cat Ditched by The Mob

After five years of faithful service, Obama the Cat is losing his home at the Cafe Liberty Social Club, a self-described right-wing gathering place in Queens, NY.

The Club was inherited from mob associate Alfred “Freddy Hot” DiCongilio, who originally hired Obama as mascot and rat catcher in 2006. The cat was a scrawny stray from Brownsville, Brooklyn, a notorious Gambino family incubator.

According to Arthur Giallorenzo, the cat was named Obama because “he does what he wants to.”

To their credit, rather than ditching the poor cat in the Pine Barrens, they are working with animal rescuer Regina Massaro to adopt him out.

“We don’t want to throw him out in the street,” said Sam Digristina, 72, told the New York Daily News while Obama took a scheduled work break in a wicker basket under the big screen TV.

“He’s really a lucky cat because they’ve treated him very well,” Massaro said.

If you can adopt a healthy 5-year-old male cat with some questionable connections, contact the Spay Neuter Intervention Project, SNIPNYC@aol.com.
