Chris Colfer Adopts 20-lb Senior Kitty

April 14, 2012 |

Chris Cofer (kurt on glee) adopted a shelter cat this week.

The adorable and multi-talented Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel in Glee) is a new Cat Daddy. Whoops! Not a Cat “Daddy” — he insists he’s too young for fatherhood and his cat is his “roommate.”

This week he tweeted about the new family member, a seniorish tabby from a Chatsworth, CA shelter:

“I adopted a cat today from the West Valley Animal Shelter!” the Glee star Tweeted on Wednesday. “His name is Brian (photo, above), he’s 8 years old and 20 pounds!”

According to PeoplePets, Colfer visited the shelter Tuesday afternoon with a female friend, went to the cat adoption room and selected the declawed brown tabby.

“He was very nice,” animal care technician Jesse Franco told PEOPLE. “Not a lot of people adopt older cats.”

Colfer urged his legion of Twitter followers to adopt rather than shop. “It was heartbreaking to see so many sweet animals needing homes,” he tweeted. “Please think about rescuing!”
