Delivery Van Driver Spooked by Feline Hitchhiker

Sammy the Bengal Cat was b-o-r-e-d BORED. So when a supermarket delivery van stopped at his house, he hopped aboard to explore the East Yorkshire countryside.

He hopped out of the lorry at the next stop, spooking the crap out of the delivery driver and vanishing into the night.

Fortunately, the delivery driver was a decent chap who drove back to Sammy’s house to alert his family that the cat had gone rogue.

Sammy’s dad, Keith Jessop, wasted no time heading to the spot where Sammy was last seen. Jessop thought that Sammy could by lured by the tap of his food dish, so he squatted in the middle of a country lane, tap-tap-tapping like a crazy man, calling Sammy’s name.

“A car went past and saw me – they must have thought I was some kind of weirdo.”

After an hour of squatting, tapping and searching, Jessop was ready to call it a night. He texted his wife that he was heading home. Then he spotted something in the car’s headlights. After considerable coaxing, Sammy ambled into Jessop’s arms.

“He was obviously having such a good time he didn’t want to come home,” Jessop said.

Sammy talked about his adventure with Mousebreath: “Ah wor stalled ‘n ready for adventure sa when t’ van showed up ah ‘opped aboard. Ah tried ta dri’ t’ lorry bur uz paws couldn’t reach t’ gas pedal. ‘A’ driva nearly crapped ‘is keks when ah jumped art. Ah ‘ed eur gran’ laugh o’a ‘a’.”

We asked Sammy if he’d ever pull another trick like that again. “Ah’m eur bengal!” he purred. “It’s wha’ ah do!”
