First Time Ever! Geezer Cats in Cat Bowl

I love Beth Stern.

Better known by some as Howard Stern’s wife, Beth is an untiring foster mother to a bunch of furry felines as well as mom to four resident cats: Bella, Yoda, Walter, and Pebble. Over the the last 5-1/2 years, they have fostered nearly 900 cats and have been active in fund raising for animal groups including Jeter Harris’ shelter, the North Shore Animal League America. She takes pride in finding forever homes for each foster, meeting the prospective family, and often transporting the foster to the new home.

Howard is hands-on as well. She says, “He grooms them every morning. He talks to them,” she said. “They’re our family members. We don’t have children together. So they are literally our children.” She says their favorite way to spend an evening is to kick back with a glass of wine and all their cats.

I met her a few years ago when she presented at a Purina conference. I was prepared to dismiss her as just another pretty face paying lip service to a cause du jour, but instead was blown away by her commitment to the feline cause. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside (seriously gorgeous either way).

She says that surrounding herself with lots of furry felines has made her life so much better. “It truly is the best thing in the world.”

This weekend, as she’s done for the last six years, she’ll be the host of the Cat Bowl and the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel.
“My job as the host is to sit on a football field with over 100 kittens crawling all over me,” she says, obviously thrilled with the prospect.

And this year marks the first year of the Cat Bowl.

“This year we did something different because I love to focus on senior cats and adult cats, we’re doing our first ever Cat Bowl,” she said. “And that’s the adult cats on a field, kind of, just hanging out and being very lazy on the field. It’s very funny.”3
You can watch Beth Stern host the Cat Bowl on Feb. 2 at 10 p.m. EST and the Kitten Bowl on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. EST, both on the Hallmark Channel. Meet the players here.

  1. ERin the cat says:

I hope we get to see both those here in the UK, too. It sounds a great idea to do the Cat Bowl as well as a Kitten Bowl, after all we all grow up and many kittens end up as cats in need.

I read this just in time, the cat bowl starts in an hour 🙂

  3. I wish I received the Hallmark channel for just this day alone. But I refuse to pay high exorbitant cable bills to receive it. Will it be replayed on you tube perhaps? Or Amazon Prime?

I agree that Beth and Howard Stern are cat angels!m
