Georgia Cat, Missing 6 Mos., Found in California

Kitty Bitty got his kicks on Route 66, but six months and 3000 miles after his epic cross-country journey started, he’s happy to be heading back home for the holidays.

The grey and white tabby was discovered aboard a big rig in Riverside County (in Southern California), apparently having hitched a ride from a Pepsi facility near his Pooler, Georgia home. He’d been missing since the 4th of July. A rabies tag on his collar helped them locate his family, who was ecstatic to learn he was alive and safe.

“I can’t thank you enough for helping us get Kitty Bitty back to Savannah,” said the cat’s owner, Teresa Cameron. “My daughter has been telling me every day since he’s been gone how much she misses him and wishes he would come back. She is over the moon that he has been found!”

The Animal Services staff at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter are pooling their money to fly Kitty Bitty home before Christmas.
