Many of you remember Angel Willie Snapp from the Phin, Feather and Furr Gang blog. The Kitty Who Came After is Buckwheat and we are pleased to be able to interview him today.
Funny Farmer Felines: Please introduce yourself and your humans.
Hi! I’m Buckwheat. I am about 6 years old and I am a cuddly cloud disguised as a cat. I call my mum, Amanda, LL or Lap Lady on my blog, and my LM or Lap Man is Chris; they are my humans. Thank you so much for inviting me to take part in this interview.
Funny Farmer Felines: If you have any furry siblings, please introduce them too.
Buckwheat: It’s just me, The Wheat
Funny Farmer Felines: How did you come to live together?
Buckwheat: The kitty who came before me, William, passed away on June 6th 2016. After that happened LL and LM didn’t know how to exist. LL started visiting kitties at the Sumter SPCA to just get some sort of kitty fix. I was there in the cat room at that shelter. I saw that she was sad and something was missing from her heart. She didn’t know how long that she was supposed to wait to get a new kitty or even if she should.
She visited the cat room a few times and I reached out to her by sitting in her lap and being extremely cute and cuddly. She would take pictures of me and the others and take them home and show LM. LM didn’t know if they were ready for a new pet or not, but he didn’t like how empty the house felt without a furry friend. He saw how happy that LL was whenever she told him about me and told her she could bring me home if she wanted to. She picked me up two days later. We have all lived happily together ever since July 22, 2016.
Funny Farmer Felines: Tell us a little about the area where you live.
Buckwheat: We live in Sumter, South Carolina. It is a hot place and it is full of fun bugs and other critters. At my house I get to watch lizards on the porch and catch the bugs that come inside. I’m not really allowed outside, but sometimes I get to go on the porch with supervision. My house is really big and sometimes I lose the people, so I have to call out loudly until they come find me or they call back and I find them.
Funny Farmer Felines: Do you have any nicknames?
Buckwheat: I hardly ever get called by my actual name. I mostly go by “The Wheat”, or “Wheaties”, or “The Cloud”(because my fur is very soft and I don’t weigh very much), or whatever LL comes up with at any given time. LM calls me “The Gray and White”.
Funny Farmer Felines: What kind of mischief do you like to get into?
Buckwheat: I’m a great climber and jumper. I like to jump up on top of the kitchen cupboards. First I get on the counter, then I hop up to the fridge and then to the cupboards above. There are decorative vases and other thingies up there that LL thinks I’m going to knock down, but I’m careful. I just want to look down on the kitchen.
My other fun thing to do is to race around the living room and dining room areas while the people are eating dinner. I run full speed from the door and then behind the couch and then to my room and back. They look at me like I’m crazy, and it’s great fun for everyone. LL says that I have a bee up my butt when I do that.
Funny Farmer Felines: What made you open a blog, and do you participate in any blogging events?
Buckwheat: I didn’t know anything about blogging before coming to live with LL and LM. She had a blog with William and it took a little while for us to figure out if I would be able to continue the blog or not, but finally she decided that it would be fun to carry on with “The Phin, Feather and Furr Gang”. I never knew the Phin or Feather characters of the gang, but it seemed easier to keep the original title. I sometimes do the Cat on My Head’s Sunday Selfies, but haven’t really gotten into much of the other things.
Funny Farmer Felines: Do you belong to the Cat Scouts?
Buckwheat: Not currently, but I am thinking of joining after seeing some fun recent Cat Scout ads on Facebook.
Funny Farmer Felines: Are you on any social media you would like to share with readers?
Buckwheat: I do Facebook more than I blog.
We also have Instagram that I share with LL; it’s under “pandasnapp”.
My blog is www.williesnapp.blogspot.com.
I’d love to have new followers on all of them.
Funny Farmer Felines: What is your greatest love and your biggest fear?
Buckwheat: I love laps! Laptime is life for me. I seize any and every opportunity to sit on any lap that presents itself to me. I guess my biggest fear would be getting taken back to the shelter. I know that LL and LM would never do that to me, but my last family did and it’s a bad memory.
Funny Farmer Felines: How would you describe yourself?
Buckwheat: I am a true love bug. I love anyone who comes in my house, even people who don’t want to visit with me – like the man who is going to be installing stone work next week. I tried and tried to get him to pay attention to me, but he just kept ignoring my advances. It was so furrustrating
My LL says this about me, “He’s never met a stranger”. I love all people. I even am friendly to dogs who come in to visit. My baby sitter from across the street has three dogs. They have all come over to meet me in the past few months. I’m not scared of them. We meet and then go about our business. If you come to my house, I will greet you with open paws.
Funny Farmer Felines: If we were to ask your mom what she loves best about you, what do you think she would say?
Buckwheat: She would say that I’m a great lap warmer, I am very pleasant to pet and she loves that I am as I described above about being a love bug.
PS – Is there anything we missed that would pertain to you?
Buckwheat: I can purr while I sleep. It’s a gift.
Funny Farmer Felines: Thank you, Buckwheat. Readers can visit him at the Phin, Feather and Furr Gang blog or at either of the social media mentioned, with links, in the interview.
