Internet Cat Video Festival 2013 Now Accepting Entries

international cat video film festival walker art center minneapolis

Gentlemen, start your video cameras and mark August 28th on your calendars.

The first — the original — Internet Cat Video Festival, hosted by the Walker Art Center In Minneapolis, is gearing up for this year’s fest, which is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever.

Last year’s festival drew over 10,000 film fans on the grass of Walker’s Open Field. Expecting an even larger crowd for the second annual festival this year, organizers have moved the venue to the Great Minnesota Get-Together: the State Fair Grandstand.

Last year, Will Braden’s Henri Le Chat Noir #2, a film about a cat suffering from ennui, took the coveted Golden Kitty as the People’s Choice Best of Festival. When I talked to Braden last year about the runaway success of the 2-1/2-minute cat film, he mused about his studies at the Seattle Film Institute, visions of being the next Spielberg, and the absurdist twist his career took when Henri went viral. His book, Henri, le Chat Noir: The Existential Musings of an Angst-Filled Cat, comes out at the end of April.

This is amazing. Please keep us updated. I spent a lot of time at the Walker and the Guthrie Theater, so I think I should go back and check out my old digs. What a great excuse!
