We would love to involve our cat blogosphere and cat writer friends in the creation of mousebreath!.

Since our current staff takes lots of catnaps, we need a lot more cats to help make mousebreath! the premiere cat-centric lifestyle magazine of the interwebs! Are you in? Here’s the detes:

What mousebreath! is looking for

You don’t have to be a published writer, but you do need to be a good writer with a compelling voice. It helps if you can also provide good quality images with each of your posts.

Most but not all of the mousebreath! content is written from a feline perspective.

We are seeking regular contributors, columnists, feature writers, photographers and videographers who can produce content written on topics relative to the feline lifestyle. Cat artists and crafters are welcome. Got a profile of a purrific Cat Guy? We’d love to see it!

Send us a proposal of what you’d like to do, including the type of content you will produce and the frequency with which you will produce it.

We will try not to tread in Ariana Huffington’s footsteps. For the first six months, we expect to be in a period of building during which we will increase our content library and work to be indexed by all the major search engines. We will also be building traffic so as to be appealing to advertisers. During this period, we do not expect the site to generate revenue.

However, during this time we plan to offer compensation in the form of promotion for your own website, blog or book via ad tiles on the mousebreath! site and an opportunity for photos of contributing cats to appear in the masthead. To be featured in the masthead, you must commit to a once-weekly post/column.

When the site becomes cashflow positive, we hope to share profits commensurate with your contributions and the traffic your posts generate.

Original Content, Please

Contributors are asked to submit original content. It’s OK if it’s based on something you’ve already posted on your blog, but it cannot be lifted word-for-word — Google considers that to be a Black Hat practice employed by content farms.

However, if you would like to analyze current cat event and news items, we are definitely looking for a news analyst. Please get in touch.

How to Send a Proposal

Your proposal should include the following:

  • How you would like to contribute (weekly column, occasional features, photos, “how to blog” items for The Cat Bloggers’ Lounge, etc.)
  • Indicate frequency with which you can contribute (daily, twice weekly, once weekly, whenever the muse strikes)
  • Provide a short sample of the type and style of content you intend to produce.

When you’re done, email the proposal to the editorial staff at mousebreath [editor //at// mousebreath //dot// com].
