We LOVE the site Camille Styles web site, and this week she provides an easy step-by-step DIY tutorial on how to make a fun, stylish cat bed from a vintage suitcase!
Anyone who’s ever gone on a trip knows how much cats LOVE curling up and napping inside suitcases (although they DO have ulterior motives in trying to get you to stay). Vintage suitcase cat beds are all the rage right now, so we were thrilled to find an easy step-by-step tutorial on how to build a cat bed from a vintage suitcase. It’s a purrfect style of cat bed for mid-century modern homes or funky lofts.
Camille purchased her vintage suitcase from a second hand store, but I recommend scouting garage and estate sales (or excavating into the nether regions of your garage) to keep the cost down. She used salvaged furniture legs that she purchased on Etsy (an easy solution when you just want the legs). The rest of the supplies include stuff you are likely to already have: painter’s tape, spray paint, a drill, a pillow and your cat’s fave blankie.
You’ll find that this DIY cat craft project is easy enough for the average crafter to complete, and best of all, you stand a chance of IMPRESSING your cat! OK, well, maybe not that last one.
