This week, the Burtonsville MD Volunteer Fire Department responded to a “Firefighter save my cat!” plea.
The cat, Simon, was lodged in an air conditioning duct and after five days, the owner had given up hope of getting him out without professional help.
The department’s chief, Michael Ryman, led a team armed with power tools and a knack for rescue.
It was tricky locating the cat within the duct. Then they had to purrform ceiling surgery, known in the business as a “ductectomy.”
The minute they opened the duct, the cat scat, requiring some additional work to block points of egress and eventually nab him. Simon didn’t stick around for selfies after the opp was completed.
