Our special guests today are the lovely Katie and handsome Waffles Too from the blog Glogirly. Many of you are already acquainted with them, but pay close attention. You just might learn something new. We did.
Funny Farmer Felines: Would you introduce yourselves and your family to everyone?
Katie: Hi, I’m Katie – the good looking one. And this here is Waffles.
Waffles Too: Um.
Katie: Glogirly, she’s our girl. And Gloman is her guy.
Funny Farmer Felines: How did you all come to live together?
Katie: A couple of years after Glogirly & Gloman said, “I do,” Gloman did what every smart man should do for his cat-loving but cat-less girl. He adopted a kitten. He brought me home to the Townhouse almost 8 years ago as an anniversary surprise. Fast forward 7 years to last November. That’s when Glogirly had a lapse in judgment and opened up Petfinder.com on her computer.
Waffles Too: Um, Glogirly ordered me on a computer?
Katie: No, silly, that’s just where she found you. She adopted you from the Animal Humane Society of Buffalo, MN. She said she loved you before she even met you. (Her words, not mine.) She found you one night and adopted you the very next day.
Waffles Too: And I didn’t even have to audition or anything.
Funny Farmer Felines: How did you get your name? Katie is a pretty ladycat name but Waffles Too is unusual. Do either of you have any nicknames … perhaps for each other?
Katie: Gloman named me Katarina. He’s Russian, you know. So I’m Katie for short. Glogirly also calls me Bunny Girl. I have lots of names for Waffles. Not all of them are suitable for print. Orange Crush, Orange Menace, Orange Monster.
Waffles Too: I was named after Katie’s campaign assistant that helped her win the Cat Ruler of the World contest last year. His or her (we’re not sure) name was Waffles. So I’m Waffles Too. Glogirly calls me just regular Waffles and also Monkey. I’m only allowed to call Katie the “Boss.”
Funny Farmer Felines: Do you have any hobbies?
Katie: Conducting my daily rounds in the Townhouse. Playing with my DaBird when Waffles is locked up in the Kitten Room. Watching over my shoulder when he’s not.
Waffles Too: Playing Air Waffles with my Neko Kragonfly wand toy. Doing Zoomies and banking off the walls. Touching Katie. Um, I mean the Boss. And smelling her, um…
Funny Farmer Felines: Every kitty likes to get into mischief.. What kind of mischief do you get into? Separately or together?
Katie: I don’t get into mischief.
Waffles: I only get into mischief.
Funny Farmer Felines: Do either of you have any secrets you’d like to share?
Katie: I’m scared of boxes. Bags too.
Waffles Too: Um, Boss? You’re skerred of boxes? And bags too? MOL!
Katie: I’m not scared of stuffing you in a ….
Waffles Too: Um, my secret is…um, I just want to touch Katie. Just a little tap-tap.
Funny Farmer Felines: We understand you two have opposing opinions of … well, most everything, but especially about the v-e-t. Why is that?
Katie: My most memorable vet visit – that would be the Ribbon Incident of 2008. I don’t like to talk about it. Let’s just say it involved 3’ of ribbon and emergency surgery. Oh, and the ribbon was pink.
Waffles Too: The Vet? Really? Can we go? Like now? I love the Vet. It’s like a party! They carry me all over the place to meet everyone behind the scenes. They all gush and say how cute I am.
Katie: And you don’t even mind when they take your temperature. What kind of cat are you?
Funny Farmer Felines: Do you belong to any clubs or groups? And does your mom help you participate in any of the blogging events, such as Talk like a pirate day, LiveStrong, Box Day, etc?
Katie: We’re part of the Cat Blogosphere and we often Talk Like Pirates. I don’t do boxes, but maybe next year Orange Crush will. Even though I do all the writing, Glogirly’s a member of the Cat Writer’s Association.
Funny Farmer Felines: Katie, you have been blogging since 2009. Waffles Too, you came along more recently. You both appear to have fun blogging. Do you blog for the fun of it, to meet other blogging kitties, or perhaps to meet the mancat of your dreams?
Katie: Glogirly says I blog because I love to make people laugh. But I don’t know what’s so funny about reporting stories of missing toys, stolen food, or Waffles sniffing my…
Waffles Too: Um, I like Wednesdays because that’s when the Boss let’s me talk the most. You know, Waffles Wednesdays and all. I like meeting all of the Boss’ friends and hearing how funny they think I am.
Funny Farmer Felines: Do you have any special plans for the future of your blog?
Katie: We’ve got some special giveaways coming up in the future.
Waffles Too: And more Waffles! Not another Waffles…just more of me, Waffles.
Funny Farmer Felines: What advice would you give to anyone just starting a blog?
Katie: Write about what you love or what makes you laugh. Find something that can make you stand out. Visit and comment on blogs that you enjoy.
Waffles Too: And use lots of pictures!
Funny Farmer Felines: You must be very excited to be a finalist in the 2013 Petties. Which shelter will benefit if you win?
Katie: We are super excited!!! And so many of our friends are finalists too! If we are lucky enough to be chosen as a winner, we’ll be donating $1000 to Feline Rescue Inc. It’s a small no-kill, all-volunteer shelter right here in Minnesota. They provide safe shelter, veterinary care and socialization for stray, abandoned and abused cats until forever homes can be found.
Funny Farmer Felines: We hear today is kind a special day for someone in the Townhouse.
Katie: Well, if by special you mean Glogirly’s birthday, yes.
Waffles Too: And she’s turning 50 gazillion.
Funny Farmer Felines: We’re so glad you were able to spare the time to be interviewed today. But … um, are you sure you want to tell Glogirly’s age, Waffles? We didn’t get any treats for elebenty-seven years when we tattled on Jan.
You can read more about Katie and Waffles Too on Glogirly’s blog. Be sure to stop by for a visit.
