Funny Farmer Felines: Please introduce yourselves and your human.
Sophie: Hello, there! My name is Sophie, I’m the youngest and most beautiful of the Three Chatty Cats. My older and much less beautiful sister, Olive, is the grumpiest. And Dexter, our big bro, is the handsomest (and shyest).
Olive: I’m only grumpy when you’re around! And you forgot to introduce our humans. Our mom’s name is Rachel and she runs our blog. Our dad is Ross and he’s not really involved in our blog.
Sophie: Hey, he made the header and logo for it!
Olive: Okay, but that’s it. Mom is the powerhouse behind it. Well, and us of course.
Funny Farmer Felines: How did you all come to live together?
Olive: All three of us are what some would refer to as strays. Each of us made our way to Mom and Dad because we knew they’d take us in and love us. Dexter arrived first in June 2010 as a three-week-old kitten with a big cut on his lip. I showed up next in June 2011. I was eight weeks old at the time. And then Sophie came along (to make my life miserable) in November 2014. She was already an obnoxious six-month-old when she arrived.
Sophie: I really do try to make Olive’s life miserable. Mwahahaha. It’s just so much fun! But isn’t that what the youngest kitty is supposed to do?
Olive: Who told you that?
Sophie: Wouldn’t you like to know.
Funny Farmer Felines: Tell us a little about the area where you live.
Olive: We live in beautiful Southern California. We’re indoor kitties, but Mom and Dad gave us a little catio so we can experience those warm, sunny days. I like to try and catch lizards when I’m in the catio and leave them for Mom as presents. She screams when she finds them, so I think that means she likes them, right?
Sophie: Olive, you forgot to tell them that we’re a few miles away from some magical place called Disneyland. We can hear their boomers at night.
Olive: They’re called fireworks.
Sophie: (muttering) You’re a firework.
Funny Farmer Felines: What kind of mischief do you like to get into, either separately or together?
Sophie: Oh, what mischief don’t we like to get into? MOL!
Olive: Sophie is known as the troublemaker in our house. Her latest thing is to climb to the very top of the sliding glass screen door! Mom has to carefully bring her down so she doesn’t tear right through the screen. Or fall through cuz she’s so fat!
Sophie: Hmphf! I’m not fat. I just have a little extra skin on my belly. Mom says it’s a primordial pouch. You’re just jealous that you don’t have one.
Olive: I am not! Mom laughs at you cuz it swings back and forth when you run.
Sophie: What can I say, I am a constant source of entertainment. And laughter is the best medicine. Again, you’re just jealous.
Funny Farmer Felines: What made you open a blog?
Olive: Mom had never really been into social media, but she had stumbled upon a (now defunct) app that was for cat lovers. She would browse through cat pictures All. Day. Long. As if she didn’t have three two wonderful cats right here! Anyway, she loved how everyone was sharing stories and experiences. And something clicked inside her and she decided to start Three Chatty Cats.
Sophie: And now we get to share ourselves with the world!
Olive: Mom started with a cause focus on the blog, but she’s letting us on there more and more now. She’s discovered that readers like hearing from us more than hearing from boring humans.
Funny Farmer Felines: Are you on any social media you would like to share with readers?
Funny Farmer Felines: What is your greatest love and your biggest fear?
Sophie: I love Dad!!! And grooming his chin hairs.
Olive: It’s called a beard.
Sophie: And I fear…nothing!
Olive: I love treats and being in a room without Sophie. And I fear that Sophie is staying with us forever. Dexter, you want to add anything?
Dexter: (whispering) I love Mom and fear everything.
Funny Farmer Felines: Does your human foster any furbabies?
Olive: Yes, our humans recently took to fostering other cats! At first I couldn’t believe it when they showed up with a cat carrier with some new, unfamiliar cat inside. That cat stayed for a few weeks and then they brought another cat home. And another! You get the idea.
Sophie: But it’s okay. They’re just helping other cats, which we’re all for. As long as none of them end up staying here!
Funny Farmer Felines: If we were to ask your humans what they love best about you, what do you think they would say?
Olive: Mom would say that she loves how handsome Dexter is – and his expressive face. Dad loves that Sophie cuddles on his chest (I don’t know why!). And Mom loves that I am so independent but also loving when I want to be. She said that if she were a cat, she’d probably be just like me. Well, duh!
Sophie: Thanks for the interview, guys. It was a lot of fun!
Funny Farmer Felines: As mentioned, Dexter is a bit shy. Actually, a lot shy. He only spoke once during the entire interview. But if you visit Three Chatty Cats, you might … just might … hear a little more from him on occasion. We know you will hear more from Olive and Sophie.
